Ever get all these really kewl new ideas for new jewelry designs and don’t know where to start?? That’s exactly how I feel right now. I also think there isn’t enough time in a day to do everything you want to do!!! Especially when you’ve got kids! oh and soccer, gymanstics, figure skating, ballet…. mmmm did I miss something? hehehe.
Sometimes I wonder where all the mothers get the time to do anything, and EVERYTHING!!! and I wonder if maybe, I might be doing something wrong?
So I’ve finally gotten a moment now, and realized I haven’t posted in my blog for some time! OOooops!
Enough about that.
I’ve been looking into some kewl new toys… errrr tools and besides finiding out how EXPENSIVE they are, I’ve been looking for some sort of alternatives. I wish someone had told me how expensive this handmade jewelry “hobby” could become!!! if anyone has any tips and tricks they’d like to share please comment!!!
If I find anything worthwhile I’ll be sure to share!!!

1There is never enough time for turning ideas into finished products, especially when you have a full time job. I’ve already matched all the stones and materials and put them in separated bags, all waiting for me to assemble them together. I’m looking forward to the weekend when I can spend all day behind my bench.

4HI! I recently decided to start exploring my creative side, and I love it! My latest fun hobby has been jewelry making, and I’ve been researching different ideas and playing around with them. I love your site. I’m very new to the whole jewelry making thing, but I have been enjoying it a ton! You have awesome designs and ideas. Have a great day!

6Hi!
I completely understand how hard it is to find inexpensive parts or pieces for handmade jewelry! When I’m on a budget, I start to get creative. I’ve began making jewelry with inexpensive (and fun!) materials (keys, coins, buttons…).
Here’s an example of a piece I’ve made with inexpensive materials:

Hope that helps!

7I know what you mean. I have begun making my own charms for Halloween Jewelry. I also paint Halloween decor items. I’ve begun selling them on a new blog. halloweenspiritcharms.blogspot.com. Maybe you could sell your stuff (or do you already?) This could help support the “habit” LOL. I don’t know how one ever comes out ahead though.

8I love making jewelry also and have very active children and find myself spending coutless hours a week at games and practices. I found a portable bead board that I bring with me every where it was under $30 at the local craft store and I love it.

9Check out Pearl Paint. They have a wide selection of beads and tools for a great price. My favorite Jewelry designer (Tina Tang) in New York City started from scratch 8 years ago and it has been a very rewarding business. I hope to achieve the level of success that she has!

10I thought as the kids get older, I’d have more time! Not so, even when they’re in school - I still don’t have enough time! That’s why I started a jewelry diary of sorts. It’s about the size of a small planner. You could get a gorgeous leather bound journal like mine at your local bookstore. I take it with me everywhere that I might have a minute to daydream. You know how you grab a magazine to get inspiring ideas, well take your jewelry journal with you. It’s easier to start than you might think. Just sit a moment and start doodling out a design. Maybe something you’ve already made but could make better! The ideas will start pouring onto the pages! It’s an amazing feeling to go back through and look over your ideas when you need a quick inspiration fix- and they are YOUR ideas!
Good Luck,
~Michele

11It is essential that you write down a list of steps for each project. Put the list on a clipboard and whenever you find extra time do each step one by one until the project is done.
